Karen Hurley, CMM, CPC-I - has more than 30 years experience in solo and small group medical practice settings. She is one of the first 100 Certified Professional Coders and one of the first 50 Certified Medical Managers in the United States. In 2002, she became a licensed coding instructor.
Karen has assisted physicians and healthcare providers to manage their medical practices since 1978, when she first went to work for an oral surgeon. Since that time, she has assisted many different specialties (internal medicine, endocrinology, dermatology, podiatry, OBG-GYN, infectious disease, and ophthalmology) to polish their internal procedures to meet strict insurance compliance regulations. Recognized as an expert in her field, Karen's devotion to her clients is surpassed by none.
She has been quoted many times in national publications for coding, reimbursement, and medical business operations.
Karen has an Associate's Degree in Mananagment from the College of Southern Maryland. She also has completed 90 credits towards a nursing degree.

Karen has been married for 36 years, is the mother of 3 sons and two grandsons. She is also an avid skin care enthusiast, securing her training and licensing in esthetics in 2005. She has a small private practice on the weekends, educating clients on skin care procedures and product use.
